STEPS technology licensee Masada

wins International Deal of the Year Award for 2011

Birmingham, Alabama : Masada won the International Deal of the Year Award (Large Deal Category) at the Alabama International Business Awards dinner sponsored by the Birmingham International Center on 21st August, 2012. Masada had some stiff competition. The Drummond Company ( and Barber MotorSports ( were the other finalists competing in the Large Deal category for this coveted award. The award was based on the work of Jessica Findley, who heads Masada's Polyfuels Division.

In September of 2010, Jessica joined Masada to explore proven technologies for converting the plastic and rubber portions of Masada’s committed waste streams into diesel and other liquid petroleum-based fuels.

Jessica worked with Auburn University’s Center for Paper and Bioresource Engineering, Chevron, Leeyang (China), and the University of Kentucky’s Engineering Department to identify the most mature plastic/rubber-to-fuel conversion technology capable of commercial deployment. All of her research pointed to Sustainable Technologies & Environmental Projects Pvt. Ltd. (“STEPS”) in Mumbai, India, the developer and owner of Polycrack Technology (“Polycrack”), the plastic/rubber-to-fuel technology.

STEPS and Polycrack were recently highlighted in a June 20, 2012, article in Forbes India ( For over a year, Jessica conducted extensive technical and financial due diligence on the Polycrack process. Jessica’s work in this capacity culminated in 2011 with her successfully negotiating an exclusive worldwide technology licensing and deployment agreement between STEPS and Masada, allowing Masada to deploy Polycrack alongside the OxyNol Process in each of Masada’s project locations.

Jessica was also vital in executing the definitive agreements between the companies and in integrating Polycrack into Masada’s existing portfolio of commercial waste-to-energy solutions in all 43 countries where Masada has a market presence. This remarkable feat was accomplished in record time because of Jessica’s incredible focus, spirited work ethic, global vision, relentless pursuit of the best polyfuels conversion technology available, and commitment to excellence in the performance of her duties. Industry insiders estimate that Jessica’s global Polycrack deal with STEPS will create as much as $2 billion in additional enterprise value for Masada’s worldwide businesses and affiliates. This international deal has already earned Jessica admission this Fall to the prestigious Executive MBA Program at Hult International Business School ( in London as the youngest admittee in the program’s history. Upon graduation from Hult’s two-year EMBA program, Jessica will be appointed as President of Masada-Europe and will become an equity stakeholder in the Masada parent company. At 26-years old, Jessica Findley has emerged as a leading global expert in Polyfuels. She is now an international success story because of her work to bring clean fuels to global markets. Jessica’s admission into the EMBA program at Hult was featured in a March 28, 2012, Birmingham News video report published online at: Jessica’s work with Masada was also featured in a story published by The Birmingham News on April 1, 2012, titled, “Miles College political science graduate on sudden career journey”. Jessica’s childhood dream has come true -- she has established her platform and her everyday work is directly benefitting mankind and the global society in which we live. I hope the members of our Masada family join me in recognizing Jessica’s outstanding work with STEPS and in saluting her for winning the Alabama International Deal of the Year (Large-Deal Category) Award for 2011. Congratulations Jessica! You have made Clay-Chalkville High School, Birmingham-Southern College, Miles College, the City of Birmingham, the State of Alabama, Masada, and America very proud.

All of us wish Jessica nothing but the best as she begins her Executive MBA studies in London next month. She is our youngest and brightest gift to the larger world!
